Impact drivers deliver both linear and rotational impact force to drive (tighten) or loosen screws and other fasteners. These tools provide higher torque than standard drill/drivers, enabling them to drive screws more quickly and efficiently. The quick-change forward/reverse feature enables fixings to be either driven-in or out with ease. Variable speed triggers and adjustable torque settings (where provided) give greater control over the amount of force applied, when driving fixings to the correct depth or tightness.
Quick-release 1/4" hex collets accept standard driver bits and other accessories with 1/4" hexagonal shanks. NOTE: Only impact-rated hex bits should be used, which are designed stand up to the forces exerted by the impact mechanism.
Impact wrenches are similar to impact drivers but are typically more heavy duty and have square drives for attaching sockets. They are primarily used to tighten or loosen nuts and bolts, coach screws and hex head lag bolts.
